Four hours of sleep + twelve hour shift = bad idea, and a stupid me.

Stayed out a bit too late yesterday playing poker with my buddies. Got a call from dad around 10pm regarding a pretty nasty electrical storm at the house, and that my tv had spontaneously turned on (oh crap) and there was no internet (double oh crap). I didn’t let the ‘oh craps’ distract me, and finished up the game. After I got home, I checked everything out… diagnosis?

DSL modem : Fried. Bellsouth will need to replace it, which knowing their track record could take a week or more.

Satellite boxes: Fried. Possibly just the dish is fried, but if the dish got struck, the boxes probably took a nasty surge.

TV? Seems okay. The Xbox comes on, but I don’t even get a “searching for satellite signal” — ah well, all the tv I want to watch can be found on the internets anyway.

I just realized, however, that I never checked to make sure the Wii was still working. If the Wii got fried, all I can say is that it would be like God laughing at me.
